Susy’s Corner: Hot Buttered Rum

Every year for Christmas my mom (Irene) would make Hot Buttered Rum for my dad (Tom). It was a favorite. Our living room would be filled with my parents’ friends playing music together sipping on this holiday beverage while the children played. Mom would even make us our own version without the spirits. I shared this recipe in one of my first editions of Susy’s corner and it is still the most requested recipe-making it worthy of a permanent place here on Abby’s coffee curious blog.

To make a hot buttered rum, mix to taste (we start with 2 tablespoons) hot buttered rum mix with 2 oz rum in a mug then top with boiling water and garnish with fresh nutmeg. We like to use quality spiced rum. You can use whichever rum you prefer or for a non-alcoholic version just skip or add rum or vanilla extract.

If you make this and love it as much as we do…and get a little photo …share it with us over on FB or IG…we want to see!
