Held at our new Learning Center in the heart of Kona, Hawaii, this comprehensive 3-day course is designed for both budding entrepreneurs and seasoned coffee professionals.

Participants will dive deep into the intricacies of coffee roasting, costs, marketing, sales, operations, cupping, and quality control. The workshop begins with an inviting evening of pupu’s and a sunset dinner, featuring a captivating talk on the rich history of Kona coffee and the inspiring journey of Monarch Coffee bringing Gesha into Hawaii.

Throughout the course, attendees will enjoy farm-to-table lunches and hands-on learning experiences, ensuring they leave with practical knowledge and actionable insights.

Meet Your Instructors

Marcus Young: Executive Vice President Good Boy Bob Coffee Roaster, Independent Quality Advisor, Operations, and Market Access Consultant

Marcus Young:

  • Marcus Young is an authorized trainer for the Specialty Coffee Association and holds their Coffee Skills Diploma with a focus on sustainability, roaster, sensory analysis, and barista skills.

  • He is a certified Coffee Quality Institute Q-Grader.

  • Marcus has trained thousands of coffee roasters and tasters during his career and works as a business and quality advisor for several award-winning coffee roasters and producers.

  • With over twenty years of experience in the coffee industry, he currently leads the coffee program at goodboybob coffee roasters as the Executive Vice President of Coffee.

  • Previously, Marcus led the marketing team for Cropster, a software company providing quality, inventory, and traceability solutions for coffee producers, roasters, and retailers.

  • He has also worked as a quality advisor, professional educator, trader, buyer, roaster, and barista. Marcus helped build Question Coffee, a successful roasting business in Rwanda, and worked on behalf of farmers and cooperatives on quality control and market access initiatives.

  • Additionally, he co-founded Central City Coffee, a social enterprise coffee company providing employment and on-the-job training for employees who were previously homeless.

Abby Munoz: Director of Operations-Monarch Coffee Farm, Q Processor, Q Grader, and Guest Experience Expert.

Abby Munoz:

  • Abby Munoz operates her family-owned and operated coffee farm in Kailua Kona, where she serves as the Director of Operations.

  • In this role, Abby oversees all aspects of coffee processing, roasting, quality control, and guest experiences.

  • Her leadership and expertise have driven the farm's consistent year-on-year growth, ensuring its success and sustainability.

  • Beyond her work on the farm, Abby is dedicated to helping other business owners achieve their goals. She specializes in customer acquisition with an emphasis on guest experience, corporate training, leadership development, and content creation, offering her services as a keynote speaker, trained business coach, and consultant.

  • Abby holds an associate's degree in business and marketing and has earned prestigious certifications from the Coffee Quality Institute as a Q-Processor Professional Level 2 and Q-Grader.

The relationship between Marcus and Abby is truly special, with Marcus having mentored Abby since 2018, coaching and training her in roasting, sensory analysis, and CRM. Now, they are joining forces to lead this workshop, bringing their combined expertise and passion to help you elevate your coffee business.
